SHG Management and Organic Farming (Terrace Gardening)

On 14th September 2017 a workshop was organized at FIDES, Avalahalli, Bangalore for SHG women on Financial Management and Organic Farming Terrace Gardening) by CDEW Society.

There were 52 women from Kaveri nagar, Bandapura and Ulsoor who participated in the workshop. Mr.Kulothungun Rtd.CA, Mrs. Lakshmi, Mrs. Sharada, and Mr. Rajendran Hegde, from Biological Research Innovation Centre and Solutions were the resource persons for the day. The morning session was based on Financial Management.

The resource persons enriched them with various examples on how to make budgeting and financial management of the family. Therefore preparation of family budget, planning of income and expenditure, the importance of working in a group, building up self confidence, planning for future, setting up goals etc were the points mainly stressed.

These will enable them to obtain good leadership qualities and lead the SHG forward.

The afternoon session was about organic Farming and Terrace Gardening; the session included the principles and practices of organic farming; for the improvement of livelihood of the family together with the improvement of ecosystems. Through PowerPoint presentation the cultivation of vegetables and plants in the place that is available on the terrace was brought out clearly.
