CDEW
When the Sacred Heart Province of Salesian Sisters was born in 1993, our unforgettable veteran missionary Sr. Nancy Pereira FMA started developmental activities in the slums of Ulsoor and in the 10 villages in the vicinity of the provincial house by forming Self Help Groups.
This marked a new era of shift from charity to development. It resulted in the foundation of FIDES (Family Integral Development and Education Scheme) which focuses on the holistic development of families in the areas mentioned above.
In the same year 1993, under the leadership of Sr. Mary Kavalam FMA, CDEW (Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women Society) was constituted as the official Social Action Organ of FMA Province, Bangalore. Today CDEW is a registered Charitable Society.
The main thrust is on the integral development of children, young girls and women. The work extends to the 4 states Karnataka, Kerala, Seemandhra and Thelengana.
