The International Women’s day was celebrated with great solemnity on 8th March, 2014,at Auxilium centre Puthiyathura. The day began with Holy Mass offered for all the women invoking God’s grace to realize their own dignity, responsibility and capacity. Fr. George Gomez, parish Priest of St. Nicolas church highlighted the Qualities of women. At 11.am Sr. Lizy Scaria the Superior of the house gave the inaugural address and lighted the Kuthuvilakku. She gave a talk on Women, Mass media and how trafficking takes place. She spoke on how women can be a great force to bring about a change in the family and in the society.
Mrs. Girly President of the Federation in her presidential address spoke on the greatness of women as she is the one who generates and nurtures life. The Inaugural function was followed by competitions. Sr. Constance animator of the S.H.Gs divided the women in to 3 groups and gave each group a topic for a skit. The first group enacted the present family situation. As both the parents go for work, the children are left alone and how they react to the situation. The second group enacted the wrong use of mobile phone and the third group on the face book. It was a great surprise and eye opener for many women to see the performance of their friends above all the message they communicated through the skit and different songs with the theme of women’s day. It was wonderful to see women on the stage acting, singing and doing their best. Most of them expressed their joy in gaining self confidence, self esteem, courage to face the public, capacity to make decisions, to raise voice against injustice done to the women at home, in the society and work place etc. Everyone enjoyed the programme. After the Prize distribution to the winner’s lunch was served to all. Everyone went home happy, contended and enriched by the celebration.
