March 8th was a day that began with slogans of “Wake up O Woman, Awake the World”.
During the Eucharistic celebration our boarding girls enacted on the discrimination and the situation of women in the present society and staged great women like Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Kiran Bedi, Gladdis Stein, Jhansi Laxmi Bai, etc… We prayed for the women who undergo various kinds suffering in the world. The children were given all the needed information to face life squarely meeting the challenges in the world. A beautiful movie, “ Na Bangaru Thalli” depicted the danger into which the innocent girls can get trapped.
This also prepared the girls to be vigilant in a diplomatic world of pleasure and selfishness. During the film review they came up with fine values such as the need to be obedient to the elders, prudence, courage in times of emergency and the ability to distinguish between good and evil, etc.. They presented situations and the ways to defend and protect them, when they are in cross roads. The International Women’s Day invited us to pray for the victims of violence and human trafficking in the hands of men. “We are proud to be women” was the slogan that resounded in our campus for three days.
