Happy Women’s Day! The tailoring women of our centre, that of Pambadi centre and few women from the nearby villages gathered together in our Auxilium Centre Puthuppally tailoring hall at 11.00 a.m. They were 45 in number. Since the exams were going on for their children many women were not able to come for the programme. In the hall we put up the picture of the great woman our Blessed Mother Mary, some of the great women’s pictures and that of some modern women were put in the notice board and it was an eye opener for them and they were interested to know them and their achievements in their lives.
The chief guest of the day was Mr. Ippu Abraham the Committee Convener of Kerala Hilfe and the chief speaker was Mrs. Sasikala, the President of Puthuppally Grama Panjayath. The programme began with a prayer song and Mr. Shaji, the secretary of Kerala Hilfe gave the introductory talk. Sr. Lilly Puliyani shared a beautiful thought on different women’s development and progress and welcomed the guests and the gathering. The chief guest highlighted some of the ordinary women’s achievements and he stressed that women are respected and given due importance from the beginning till today. After the presidential talk the mike was handed over to Mrs. Sasikala and invited her to conduct the session. She spoke on the theme of this year given by UNO on the “MAKE IT HAPPEN.”. As she explained the theme of the day she also quoted so many examples of the ordinary women’s life and the success in their life. She said that we are capable, have strength but courage is lacking to go forward and make things happen in our live. She concluded that women get many help from Government But it is up to us to dare and work for it. After the session there was a short time given for clarifying their doubts. Mrs. Jolly Thomas, one of the tailoring students proposed vote of thanks. The participants were given refreshments. The women were very happy to have celebrated the Women’s day.
