FCDP & TMS together celebrated the women`s day on 7th March at FCDP hall, Pallithottam. The programme began with invoking the Holy Spirit. Sr.Mary Karuvelil the Coordinator of FCDP & TMS welcomed the participants. Kollam, Mayar Smt.Hunny Benchamine, the chief Guest lighted the kuthuvilakku and inaugurated the function.
In her inaugural address she stressed on the role of women in the society and how women are ill-treated and exploited for commercial purpose. She exhorted the women telling that they should come together to achieve their rights of protection, justice and freedom. T M S president, Dr. Sindha Mendez presided over the function. A class on “know mother” was presented by Dr. Sindha Mendez and councillor Lethisha. They stressed on Mass media and trafficking. They insisted to raise voice against injustice done to the women at home, in the society, work place etc. Fr. Sunny Uppan SDB, the Director of FCDP & TMS, Councilor Sri. Tomy Nepolean and KCBC anti-alcoholism Secretary Sri. A. J. D’cruz delivered felicitation. The women staged the programme and Prizes were distributed to the winners. The function of drawing the coupon was very interesting. Many of them won the prizes. Nearly 180 women participated in the celebration. The programme was concluded with lunch. Everyone went home happy, contented and enriched by the celebration.
